Extraction Facial

An extraction facial is pretty much exactly what it sounds like! 😜 This service is great for clients with pesky blackheads, breakouts and/or stubborn congestion - especially those in hard to reach areas.

Extraction facials are a combination of a bit of uncomfy (sorry, not sorry) and relaxation. Each service starts with a deep oil cleanse followed by extractions and ends with holistic detox (cupping and gua sha) to drain congestion and stagnant lymphatic fluid off the face and help regulate oil production. FAQs

  • Every client experiences extractions differently, depending on their pain tolerance, the level of inflammation in the skin, the stubbornness of their congestion and where they are at in their menstrual cycle (when this applies).

While extractions do involve some discomfort, I am always careful not to apply too much pressure on the skin. This can create a whole other problem! Sometimes, the best option is to give some stubborn extractions a bit more time or to address them with skincare instead of traumatizing the skin.

  • As much as I do my best to leave your skin clear and glowing at the end of your service, it is realistic that not every single pore will be free of congestion afterwards. Depending on your skin goals and the current state of your skin, several sessions may be needed and/or some stubborn congestion may need some more time before it is ready to be extracted safely.

We will chat about which areas of congestion you struggle with the most and I will be sure to focus on those!

  • Facial steamers are used to soften the skin and the congestion (oil) inside the pores for extractions. Instead of a steamer, I use manual massage with a deep oil pull to begin warming and softening the skin. This also helps to begin breaking down the oils inside the pore to help with extractions.

  • When necessary, yes, I use a tool for extractions. I prefer using gloved fingers to feel the skin and the amount of pressure I’m applying while doing extractions. Sometimes, tools can be harsher on the skin than necessary, but they can also be helpful in hard to reach areas or for stubborn congestion. I will always use my discretion and communicate with you about your comfort along the way!

  • For most clients, a monthly extraction (every 4 weeks) facial is a great time frame to keep their skin glowing and clear.

For clients with more congestion, it may be necessary to book more frequently to kick start their skin care journey.

  • Ideally, no. Your skin should stay clean and free of makeup for the remainder of the day after your service.

I know it’s tempting to want to cover up the redness from extractions, but the best thing you can do is hydrate and moisturize! Resist the foundation and trust the process 😘

  • The best way to care for your skin following your service is to:

    1. Drink lots of water! Detox. Detox. Detox. Lots of fluids help drain toxins from your body.

    2. Make sure you’re sleeping on a clean pillow case.

    3. No makeup the remainder of the day.

    4. Resist picking for a few days to give your skin some time to heal and for any stubborn congestion to loosen up.

    5. Make sure you wash your face well after a workout to keep oils and impurities away for your freshly freed pores.

    6. Consider washing your makeup brushes. We could all be washing our brushes bit more often, couldn’t we!? 😝
